My Current Anime Binge watch – Solo Levelling

Solo Levelling, is an anime that was adapted from a web novel titled ‘Only I Level Up (나 혼자만 레벨업)’, written by Chugong. It was first adapted to webtoon (Online comics) in 2018 and the anime was then release in 2024.

If life is like a game, where you can improve yourself and level up to be the best and the strongest. Fights monsters, clear the missions and gets income from mining valuable gem stones after the mission is cleared.

It is this anime that has all that. A story about Sung Jin Woo, an E rank hunter, which is the lowest rank out of all ranks. The ranks range from good to highest is rank D,C,B,A and S rank to be the highest rank. The mission of these ‘Hunters’ is to clear up every ‘Gates’, which is an entrance to a cave or a realm where monsters lives in. To prevent the monsters from breaking out to the city, these ‘Hunters’ is responsible to annihilate every monsters in the ‘Gates’, including their Boss.

In one of the mission, Jin Woo stumbled in a mysterious ‘Gates’ that causes him almost loosing his life. And because of this, near-death experience, he gains a unique ability to level up infinitely, becoming the strongest hunter. And this ability is where he is met with the ‘System’ that helps him with daily missions, upgrading his armors and ability. Just like in a game, where after defeating monsters and their boss, he gets to level up, retrieve magical items, coins or valuable stones, gets higher rank and gets stronger.

And throughout his journey of levelling up and being the strongest, he needs to overcome obstacles as well as uncovering secrets about the ‘Gates’ and his own power ability. The show is still ongoing as Season 2 started January 2025.
